Siren's Voice

Siren's Voice

nonlinear audio play - 6 x 5 min. - english - '01

A nonlinear story in sound made up of 5 scenes and 1 song. A musician on tour hears the voice of a female fan in his head, claiming she is from the future. Tired and jetlagged, he thinks he is going mad.

Siren's Voice was originally distributed on Napster as mp3's disguised as existing song titles. Using id3 tags, one scene was linked to the next, and so on. People were encouraged to rename downloaded scenes into other song titles, creating in effect new 'entrypoints' to the story.

A very early viral distribution concept, in retrospect Siren's Voice was probably the first 'legal' entertainment content on a p2p network.
